⚠️Another new study on mask wearing: but this time assuming R0 of 2.2 or 4, effectiveness against trans, & pop% wearing it. Good news is it works. Bad news: it needs high 95% effectiveness and also high 75% or more mask wearing compliance to get under R<1. https://royalsocietypublishing.org/doi/10.1098/rspa.2020.0376 …pic.twitter.com/UL84kYpz42

        2) “These analyses may explain why some countries, where adoption of facemask use by the public is around 100%, have experienced significantly lower rates of COVID-19 spread and associated deaths.”

        3) “our models show that facemask adoption provides population-level benefits, even in circumstances where wearers are placed at increased risk.” Also especially more so when worn before symptoms are visible.

        4) “We conclude that facemask use by the public, when used in combination with physical distancing or periods of lock-down, may provide an acceptable way of managing the COVID-19 pandemic and re-opening economic activity.”

        5) “These results are relevant to the developed as well as the developing world, where large numbers of people are resource poor, but fabrication of home-made, effective facemasks is possible.”

        7) “Figure 3. Heat maps of the effective reproduction number (Re) as a function of control parameters for two values of R0. Even when R0 is 4.0, the best outcomes are achieved when masks are worn all the time, a high proportion of the pop wear them and their efficacy is high.”pic.twitter.com/CbHFcRECw8

Interested in your recommendation for a quality “non-health care worker” mask for gen public. Idk what’s best to buy.

Super duper screwed. We haven't had a peak yet in my state and people aren't wearing masks indoors much. So fucking screwed.
