I can't stop thinking about @JessicaValenti 's thread on #AzizAnsari & how even though technically he followed rules of sexual consent, how the bigger culture of sexual coercian is not clear to men - we are all playing by different rules. We need a reset on cultural norms.

I have a lot of issues with how the story came out, was written, etc. And I'm uneasy with equating the
#AzizAnsari narrative with having a POTUS that paid porn stars to keep silent. There is a spectrum to what is coming out with#MeToo
- I'm uneasy by equating it all as same.2 vastausta 4 uudelleentwiittausta 52 tykkäystäNäytä tämä ketju -
I guess I'm also reflecting on "No means No" vs "soft no" vs blurry line btwn seduction/coercian. And those French women that were anti-
#metoo
. We've done well recently to shift culture on "Consent" - but have we done enough to un-teach the blurry line of seduction/coercian?2 vastausta 2 uudelleentwiittausta 28 tykkäystäNäytä tämä ketju
I also think of the age difference and fame difference in the scenario which makes saying no more difficult and the coercion almost invisible.
