People getting more angry at the audacity of my saying Muslims should be included in a conversation about the Renaissance than the white supremacy embedded in the idea of the Renaissance speaks volumes. 
Do you know that the idea of the Renaissance was invent in the 19th century? No one is denying that the 14-17th centuries happened what we are pointing out are the erasures that led to the “flowering of learning.”

The narrative of ‘dark ages’/cultural stasis between the end of the Roman Empire and the mid 15C doesn’t hold up to scrutiny. For a start, there’s continuity. In addition, where there were developments and ‘re found’ knowledge in the 15C the sources were syncretic/multiple 1/2
