I don't get this thread. It seems to be an exercise in explaining away murderous police violence on the grounds of segregation. Segregated communities are made deliberately by white supremacy. Why isn't racism the go to answer for why she shot that young man? #BlackLivesMatter

Nothing here is about “explaining away.” I’m talking about the transmission of racism from generation to generation, and how segregation plays a role. If I failed to realize that intent in how it reads, I apologize to you.

The problem for me with this approach is about what's in people's hearts. We know that's not how racism or white supremacy work, but that's often used as a reason for why something cannot be racist.https://twitter.com/saragoldrickrab/status/1382466293400547331?s=20 …

Dr. Sara Goldrick-RabVarmennettu tili @saragoldrickrabWhat would the deep conscience of a person be like if they started with that respect for all humans from day 1? What happens to them when it’s never established or eroded from lack of contact, or even worse? What does it do to the space between your head and your heart?Näytä tämä ketju1 vastaus 0 uudelleentwiittausta 0 tykkäystä -

This is a serious question: “we know” that racism isn’t about what’s in peoples’ hearts? Who is the “we” here? What are the studies? I’ve done decades of schooling and it seems you have info I’ve not been privvy to. Maybe share?

A good place to start is Beverly Daniel Tatum's Other People's Children, which I'm sure you've read. I also don't think this was a serious question, given your snide second remark. But you do you.
