This brilliant talk makes me wish my production of H5 still existed and also that I had the vocabulary and thoughts @DrDadabhoy and @prof_nmehdiz present back when I was directing and writing the program note for it... #ShakeRacePedagogyhttps://twitter.com/HarryMcCarthy/status/1361406737870442513 …

Thank you! I think there’s so much work to do on H5 and forms of radicalism and extremism.

Yes. It's hard to provide all the nuance on the twitter format, but I met some resistance for seeking to provide that type of critique maybe because we haven't really started having these conversations yet in the theatre.

I wrote about a local Theater’s production of H5 on my blog and it reminded me a lot about the kinds of extremism the play fosters. I read it very much as a war on terror play even though that’s not what they “were going for.”

Just looked it up. Gosh, so much to unpack there! Great thoughts from you. I tried to explore (Christian) religion as hypocritical means to power, but I also had the H4s before hand to help with that.

There’s a lot to still do with these plays by figuring this discussion of nation through religion, gender, and race.
