I was interested in the textual note here and followed the chain ... I hadn’t realised that this whole speech of Othello’s doesn‘t appear in the first (1622) quarto.
Oh that’s really interesting....because it’s one of the three moments in this scene that Othello denigrates his own color. 1) Haply for I am black and 2) Arise black vengeance. I guess I’ve just been reading and using editions based on the folio.
