An excellent essay by @sentantiq on what we need to save the Humanities. Consider its richness if we valued works of Du Bois, Cooper, Fanon, et al. The "classics" has always been a wyte supremacist project. #medievaltwitter #shakerace #classicstwitterhttps://sententiaeantiquae.com/2021/01/11/save-the-humanities-with-this-one-simple-trick/ …

@johnabbe This essay is important in light of the appalling article posted by@acmrs_org this week. We don't need to shoe-horn Dante into discourse abt wyte supremacy. Dante has always been part of the discourse, & encouraging us to read more of him is not the way to go.2 vastausta 1 uudelleentwiittaus 17 tykkäystäNäytä tämä ketju -

Ugh, I think so. I didn't screenshot it but
@acmrs_org posted an article by someone who made it her business to promote Dante & shoehorn him into discussions abt the violence at the Capitol. She erased indigineity from the bison-headdress, claiming it was "simplistic"1 vastaus 0 uudelleentwiittausta 2 tykkäystä -

and brushed over the violence and genocide against Indigenous people. She used the term "Anglo-Saxon history" as though that's a real thing, and tried to encourage more ppl to just read Dante. It was a white supremacist project:https://twitter.com/ISASaxonists/status/1349912037057458176?s=20 …

Axel Folio, PhD, BFF of Mr. Bloodaxe @ISASaxonistsHere's a problematic piece being RT'd by *mostly* wyte scholars right now that perpetuates same problems of wyte supremacist discourse in the very article that's supposed to be highlighting probs of misappropriation. Others pointed out problems as well, but the thing sat up there for 12 hours and people thought that was ok. To add insult, someone pointed out that the author has a history of silencing & gaslighting BIPOC. The writer of this article gleefuly stood by watching as a very senior scholar & others gasligighted & savaged the Bipoc scholar.1 vastaus 0 uudelleentwiittausta 2 tykkäystä -

Tried to find that article you mentioned, about Dante et al, and it appears to have been taken down!

Removed and the author has disappeared from Twitter, because god forbid you have to stand by your words.

What cowardice. If you are emboldened to write on the relevance of high European culture to white supremacy and not critique it, then you must take the criticism that might be leveled at that piece. And before someone wants to say it, this is not cancel culture.
