They all want these "rakish" dukes! Even as a starry eyed romance loving teen, I had questions...

I really recommend checking out the "my research" tab on
@VanessaRiley 's blog. She has a great thing somewhere about "duke math." https://vanessariley.com/ - Näytä vastaukset

I believe non-Euclidean-stories exist, waiting to be found.

In the Romance community there is a forever ongoing discussion about who gets to have an HEA. We have a sub-readership that has been trained to believe Black people (and queer people) “weren’t invented yet” and even if they were, they couldn’t possibly live happily ever after.

Seems to be a recurring trope across lots of genres. It was noticeable in Possession, which I recently rewatched which is set in Victorian Eng. No Black people of course
but featuring the suicide of a queer character to further the heterosexual development of a bi character. - Näytä vastaukset

That's exactly what I was gonna say like. This whole thing is innacurate...but the one innacuracy you have an issue with is the race of a bunch of people who never existed, doing things that people in that era never did? Ok...
-
Well you know when it come to non-whites we always have to be historically accurate. For whites we don’t have those same demands or standards.

But they were all young and hot, right? That much is true.
