One of the biggest mysteries I’ve been pondering is this: What motivates people who aren’t marginalized to stand up for those who are marginalized? Tbh I think it might take greater courage for people w/ no skin in the game to get involved than those w/ it What do y’all think?

It could be that, honestly, it is just basic human decency. Which makes the lack of that in the world all the more alarming & sad, tbh. Thinking about that makes me realize I may not have a whole lot of experience seeing others demonstrate that, which is tough to reckon with.

i completely agree w all your statements & honestly feel disappointed and embarrassed that you seem to be the only person voicing this opinion. i’m see a lot of self-congratulatory comments w no recognition that actually, we (the marginalised) have immeasurable courage BECAUSE 1/

we are the marginalised bodies that are suffering from these systems of oppression and in these movements. we’re the ones who will be punished. we have the most to lose by standing up & fighting bc we are more oppressed. not the majority or the “allies”.
