There is a MSGA component to the audience at Oregon Shakespeare Fest, that, while maybe puny in stature, had been rather vocal for a spell before the world closed. Not surprising, but still make you wanna put a foot in the wall.

I think it's: 1) start with Shakes as ultra-canonical; 2) dig back to Chaucer for secure grounding in the (white) Middle Ages; 3-4) thrust forward towards modernity in the company of white male greats; 5) remember to include a woman.
