Exist and are doing the work. By having such a visually white program the institution effects an erasure and puts its imprimatur on this version of history as legitimate. It is then not being honest about the premodern past. If they had centered race in this context 4/

Then their program would been different and reflected important scholarship being produced by BIPOC scholars as shaping the field not as an additive. I hope this critique is taken in the spirit of justice in which I offer it. /fin
