I was introduced to the novel in Said’s seminar and I recall - many people felt it was very misogynist. “Misogyny” is certainly a theme of the novel? I look forward to your reading.

I agree about the misogyny but I argue that it is a critique, especially of Shakespeare’s play and of post colonial societies that want to blame all oppressions on the colonial regime.
