Quick vox pop: if someone approached you now about the possibility of writing a chapter for a collection, how much time would you think it was reasonable of them to offer? Hugely conscious how many demands people have on their time at present, and for the foreseeable future.

i know many
#ShakeRace people who have been given 2-3 month timelines. People are performing well under pressure/urgency, but I always wonder when Vol is out whether folks realize some folks had from beginning of project & others had so little time . . . -
2-3 months does not seem to be enough time (unless very short pieces). I'm sorry this is happening, and in some cases I guess it reflects problems--in the case of gaps and exclusions--in the original plans for the volume (obviously could also be bc someone had to pull out!)

That's just awful, and particularly noticeable in publications focussing on race at the moment, I find. I can completely understand the desire for timely and responsive publications, but
@DrDadabhoy makes an important point about the pressure it puts on people.Kiitos. Käytämme tätä aikajanasi parantamiseen. KumoaKumoa

2 or 3 months??? That seems a ludicrously quick turn around??

It absolutely is.
