Ayanna Thompson noted that the actors sound Black American in their speech and there are affective resonances created by their speech. #ShakeRace @PublicTheaterNY @WNYC

I am so loving this! Hearing the actors, listening to their commentary, and feeling how unbelievably good the play is in this moment BECAUSE of them!

Agreed. Miriam Hyman was so spot on in thinking about Bolingbroke's return in the contexts of rights and freedom. This is such a fantastic production. So much is opened up about the play through the race attentiveness of the cast.

Second. The performance and the commentary are so rich. We are watching (hearing) "SHAKESPEARE" being stripped down and made anew.
@RobynHoodmusic was really incredible on both the text and its new resonance. And indeed, lines jump out in new ways.1 vastaus 0 uudelleentwiittausta 6 tykkäystä
She really was. Her connection between St. George and George Floyd was so profound. If folks want to know what Shakespeare means to us now, it’s this.
