I agree that we should not “teach for the evaluations.” But I wonder who the “we” of this aphorisms is? The majority of Shakespeare being taught right now is being taught by sessional and contract faculty who can find themselves jobless if they get poor evaluations #FolgerCRC

The talk was beautiful and very ethical. I learnt so much! I think considering issues of “academic class” when thinking about taking risks as a teacher is important. So many sessional faculty are BIPOC scholars, and I wish they had the protections of tenure when taking risks

It's obviously easier to take the risk if you have tenure. Both
@prof_nmehdiz and I don't & while I'm TT now, Nedda is a F/T lecturer. We are always thinking of academic class. It's unethical for institutions to make the most vulnerable people to be doing this work. - Näytä vastaukset
