I think the people on the streets are also interested in liberation. These statues and symbols are a form of white terror that reminds them, every time they pass under their shadow, their contingent claim to humanity in white supremacist society.

The point is that a public referendum should decide whether statues come down. Not unruly mob. We live by vote, not anarchy.
