I live in constant fear that I am on the precipice of being considered a dilettante in #bookhistory, #shakerace, #shaxstudies, and #earlymodern studies. This guy tweets this stuff, and b/c white privilege works the way it does, people will read his claptrap and give it credence. https://twitter.com/mattyglesias/status/1271644069580673025 …

I agree, Ambereen. It also suggests that studying the Middle Ages is itself an apolitical act. I don’t think disaggregation was the problem in the case of either thread.

I put my close parenthesis too late, which may have been misleading, Kathryn: my point on disaggregation was about referentiality getting lost, if (like me) you joined mid-thread via replies. It took work for me to retrace steps on each, & people may (understandably) not.

Understood—I noticed some were responding as if any of this was directly targeting Brandi’s excellent first foray into contemporary
#ShakesRace critique (as twitter’s design can encourage). Glad that’s not so, & i look forward to many more such forays.Kiitos. Käytämme tätä aikajanasi parantamiseen. KumoaKumoa
