Yes! In addition to what you point to, there's the fact that we can't feed off student energy through a screen the way we can in the classroom. So we have to generate ALL the energy ourselves. I am not great at this.

This is also a new kind of ‘show’ to manage. The production requires different tools and our shared adjustment to them (and what can go wrong at any moment) requires much more background processing than a usual hour of teaching. It leaves me drained too.

Yes, there’s an even greater performative aspect to teaching now, more production as you say and more tech with its attendant anxiety of failure.
