Someday, a researcher will come across the pedagogy book I’m reading and marvel not at my use of manicules but at my skill in drawing

Absolutely. I’m all for rethinking our pedagogy but not on the basis of bad assumptions and attitudes.

This misconception also gets internalized. Many of my STEM students assume they “can’t write” or they’re “bad writers” but -to their surprise - end up writing excellent papers & love doing it! I tell them “no such thing as a bad writer, just an untrained one; let yourself learn!”
