I struggle with this because I do a lot of my scholarship in public. I share works in progress on my website as well as course design and syllabi. I do this because I want to show people the many ways we can build a diverse and inclusive premodern. 1/ https://t.co/ykdmxzVCja

I feel like citing pre-pub locations like social media posts, lectures, etc is professional courtesy-- conference papers can be cited, so why not digital sources? Getting peer reviewers and editors to require that, tho, is a different step, but one that surely we must push for?

I don't think
@DrDadabhoy is worried about citation; plagiarism, someone stealing her ideas, I think is more the issue. Is she right? I really hope not. - Näytä vastaukset

I respect Adam’s decision & everyone has to make the decision that makes them comfortable & works for them, but I’ve been thinking a lot about that tweet for the last few hours b/c it’s infuriating how bad behavior by others are forcing brilliant POC scholars to make that choice.

I’ve tended to be very public and claim space that way and also to talk a lot out in writing with friends - doesn’t stop the plagiarism but at least it gets time stamps and dates... our receipts.
