A colleague has asked me for first day tips on a course that will be discussing race. Obviously, I have some suggestions but my biggest one is that the institution should have programming to help us with this when it’s not in our wheelhouse. 1/

Since you are being tossed into this... get reading lists from others and build classes on chapters from from them. Guest lecturers. Youtube video assignments.. skip TedTalks except as examples of biased persuasion.

The only TedTalk I’ve ever used was years ago, Kimberlé Crenshaw explaining intersectionality. It’s kind of unnecessary, now. These are fantastic suggestions. I’m collecting them to circulate for myself and my colleagues.
