I find grading - the act of assessing someone's work against an arbitrary point/percentage system and assigning a letter grade to that work as a form of judgement on that work - to be incredibly problematic and unethical.1/2

Yes! That’s helpful - hopefully @ShokoofehR can remind me. But I’m generally talking more about the philosophy behind grading, as in the culture of academia that implements systems of assessment that seem “fair” an ”objective” but are, in fact, not. 1/2

My personal system of grading accounts a great deal for growth - one student’s A may not look exactly like another student’s A but, to me, are equally deserving of that grade for different reasons. 2/2
