Slight correction: Ottoman history is Asian, European, and African, if we're talking about the continents in which the Ottoman rulers had directly controlled territories and tributary client states. In terms of their ethnogenesis, Turkic peoples' origins go back to Central Asia.

I’m not disputing Asia or Africa. I know that the people who eventually become the Ottomans are central-Asian Turkic peoples. What I am asserting is that their history should also be considered European, which it usually isn’t. Thanks.

It really should be, considering the location of Istanbul, and of course their domination of the Balkans for several centuries, to say nothing of their sieges of Vienna in Austria, i.e. Central Europe, on two occasions. They also left a huge cultural imprint on Eastern Europe.

And the Mediterranean world of the Italian city states as well as France and Spain were quite affected by Ottoman actions in the region. It’s a glaring oversight.
