Regarding Leonardo, Beethoven, Shakespeare etc., while there's no doubt they benefited both from the ideas and the plunder of other parts of the world, is it not a bit of a stretch to say that they peddled others' riches as their own? (Bit biased as a Shakespeare obsessive!)
