So I've been pondering this (and
@dbkimbro may jump in as well), and my initial response would be that scarcity is about resources/opportunities, whereas precarity is ontological (at least as we're thinking about it). -
Precarity and scarcity are intertwined, and scarcity (especially in terms of stable, long-term employment opportunities in academia and beyond) is one of the major contributors/factors to precariousness. It becomes difficult then to separate the two as they are symbiotic(?).
