How can residents in other states (non-Texan) support you? Would you fight any law that restricts Doctors (Pain Mgmt) from treating patients the way they feel is best for the patient? After 14 surgries (incld fused lumbar and cerv c6/c7) I am terrified by what I am reading
Thank you for your question. I want to give you a simple yes/no answer, but I can’t. So I hope you’ll bear with me. In my decades of practice, I’ve seen both under-treatment and over-prescribing. The common theme, though, is the lack of non-opioid options. 1/

I’ve had patients become habituated and addicted (different things), even when they had pain issues that desperately needed treatment. We have no good answers for this. 2/

Worse, some people are left in pain, while others are on a path toward death from addiction. And I feel helpless to help them. We have some resources that work, but because our healthcare system is a mess, many don’t have access to a comprehensive approach. 3/
