I’ve had patients become habituated and addicted (different things), even when they had pain issues that desperately needed treatment. We have no good answers for this. 2/

Worse, some people are left in pain, while others are on a path toward death from addiction. And I feel helpless to help them. We have some resources that work, but because our healthcare system is a mess, many don’t have access to a comprehensive approach. 3/
