To be very clear, I own firearms. I have 4 guns that we own for personal and home protection. I support the #SecondAmendment. But all of our rights have reasonable restrictions, and it's past time that we address the #gunviolence epidemic. #twittercongress

Having said that, I am ready to enact policies that share wide support: Universal background checks, a ban on military style assault-type weapons, and closing the loopholes that allow non-spouse domestic abusers to access guns. #twittercongress

As a scientist, I am in favor of removing the ban on the CDC's ability to study and make recommendations regarding gun violence issues. But as a scientist, I know how long it will take until we have that data. Our kids cannot afford to wait. #GunReformNow #twittercongress
