2/ Meet my friend Felicia Miyakawa @fmmiyakawa. Felicia has dedicated herself to advocating for special needs children in the school system. She is extremely dedicated to the work. She takes on case after case. It’s heartbreaking, time-consuming, crushing work. But she #persists
3/ She has told me story after story about these cases. Children who are being not just left behind, but harmed by our educational system. Suffering. The system is failing them.
4/ The children, their families, and their advocates hit wall after wall, searching for help. Get turned away. Shuttled around. More questions than answers. So this report will not surprise her or them.
5/ They are lucky to have her. Because she #persists. But here’s the thing: she shouldn’t have to.
6/ If we cared about special needs children, they wouldn’t need advocates. Their needs would be met. They wouldn’t have to beg.
7/ This report shows exactly what the State of Texas thinks of it’s special needs children: they are a problem to ignore, a group to push aside. The State thinks it can save money at the expense of these children. It is shameful.
End/ I am horrified by this. What kind of person does this to children? These people must be held accountable.

Texas most Texas laws are written by ALEC. People who think Chicago politics should spend some time in Austin.
Within my daughter’s disease support group, Texas is a know problem area. Parents have know this going on for a long time.
