3/ Time and time again, these restrictive laws have been shown to be racially biased and aimed at restricting groups that traditionally vote Democratic. That’s the whole point.

4/ In-person voter fraud is exceedingly rare, and does not justify these restrictions. Why? Because tens of thousands of people are prohibited from voting, on the off chance that one case of voter fraud will be prevented.

5/ Many courts have struck down some of the most egregious voter restrictions. But make no mistake: they will keep trying until they figure out how to be the most restrictive while still getting through the court system. Remember: they don’t want you to vote.

7/ Others have suggested that the poor and women should not be allowed to vote. But I digress. The message here is that there are many in this country who want only rich, white men to vote. Hence, why MLK thought voting rights were so critical.

10/ I am in favor of: Automatic voter registration. A National Holiday for Election Day. Restoration of voting rights for felons who have served their sentences. Expanded numbers of polling places and election days. Elimination of restrictive voter ID laws.
