I used to work in a mental health clinic in a very poor, rural county with a huge substance abuse problem. The number of people who just automatically assumed they were banned from voting because of a DUI/possession/shoplifting charge was depressing.
I know. I’m a voter Registrar in my area and they train us to convince off-paper felons that they can regain voting rights.

I'm sure a lot of them were using it as an excuse for why they just didn't care enough to vote, but I also had a consumer tell me she was voting for first time in her 50+yrs because she believed in Trump. Both of those are just too much for me.
