I used to work in a mental health clinic in a very poor, rural county with a huge substance abuse problem. The number of people who just automatically assumed they were banned from voting because of a DUI/possession/shoplifting charge was depressing.

I know. I’m a voter Registrar in my area and they train us to convince off-paper felons that they can regain voting rights.

One proud Texas fact: In TX, voting rights are restored to a convicted felon upon completion of his or her sentence. Sentence includes prison time, parole, and probation. This is not widely known & the info needs to be spread.
