One potential bright spot is the Arizona Senate race to replace Martha McSally. Arizona law allows Mark Kelly to be seated *immediately* after the November election rather than waiting until January. This will reduce the number of Republican Senators needed to keep a
replacement off SCOTUS until after Inauguration Day. It has to do with McSally being an *appointed* senator rather than an elected senator.
