1) No. America does not NEED college football. America NEEDS actual leadership. It NEEDS a plan to help stem the tide of deaths from this virus that YOU have not stopped. It NEEDS better care for its citizenry, and not just to wealthy.

2) Sure, it's important for the athletes. It's more important for the schools, networks and advertisers though, because of the millions of dollars that they stand to lose. The athletes? Won't lose any money. They'll probably stay healthier. They'll get to study more.
