Politics does affect *everything* in your life, from local zoning ordinances that determine which grocery stores are near you to which insurance companies are available to you. Just like science doesn’t care if you believe it or not, politics will do its thing with or without you

That politics affects so much does not mean that it is everything. We can agree that it's important, but that does not mean it has to be the focus of all or most conversations. Our society is worse off for how much gets turned into political football.
