This may be true but is quite depressing. This means even if Dems win in 2020, we will still have lots of crazy pushback to their governing even if moderate.

Exactly right! People are eager to "fight fascism," I hope they're eager to vote in 2020, and 22, 24, 26, 28, 30... because that's what it's gonna take.
