Aren’t people wearing cloth masks over mouth/nose less likely to contaminate surfaces that other people might touch? If everyone did that, wouldn’t we have fewer droplets of virus coming out of people’s faces? Why isn’t this obvious?
Most cloth masks barely block viral particles at all. So, yes, you will block some. But you should still treat surfaces as contaminated.

Thanks! I would still follow all of the other guidelines but it seems like a good idea to encourage even some reduction in the contamination of surfaces. Each person who doesn’t become infected won’t contribute to the exponential increase.
