Before You Put On That Mask I get it. You want to do *anything* you can to prevent the spread of this virus to you and your loved ones. But before you put it on, PLEASE keep the following in mind: (10 points)

We've made DIY fitted masks. Two layers of 100% denim cotton with a pocket to insert a filter. We are currently using a panty-liner as a filter, and/or another rectangle of denim. We have seen many pictures from Chinese using pantyliners but nothing in North America. Yr opinion?

(I’m in California and I’m using a panty liner as well.)

Some air filters are easier to separate from their metal than others, but if it’s fine enough (we were told to look for “MERV13”) you can cut 30-40 mask filters from one of these. Also they can be washed with the mask.pic.twitter.com/vybeBBWQJe

I hate to ask a dumb question, but why would it need separating from the metal. I'm assuming, if the metal can be cut with the material, that one can shape it, which would be helpful for fitting and also, a virus isn't going thru metal, so it's not hurting to leave it right?

I use a HEPA filter vacuum bag cut to the shape of my mask as a filter. I know it’s not perfect, but my husband has asthma, and my son has epilepsy.

Ensure it doesn’t have glass in it. Some vacuum filters are made with glass fibers.
