We got our first positive COVID-19 test result in my office today. It was from a patient I did a “drive-by” test on yesterday. I’m going to share a bit about this because the story highlights some of the holes in what we are currently doing to slow the spread of the disease.

unless symptoms are significant. We will run out of tests soon, so our office makes decisions on a case-by-case basis. We try to limit tests, but have a duty to provide them when we can and in limited circumstances.

The lack of testing will be why this will be around until there is adequate treatment identified or a vaccine that will make big pharma more powerful than the oil industry.

Basic epidemiology identifies positives to isolate, contact tracing to quarantine which reduces spread of disease. Only testing symptomatic patients does nothing. Typhoid Mary wasn’t symptomatic.
