      I’ve been supporting Universal Healthcare with a Single Payer system since 2009, lobbied at the Texas State Legislature in support of the Healthy Texas Act, a SP system for Texas during the most recent session. In short: I’ve been working on this issue for more than a decade.

      I’ll answer publicly: I see this problem first hand in my practice regularly. It is shameful that we haven’t invested in solving this. First step: legalize marijuana. No one should need permission to use a safe substance. Fix our mental healthcare system. Invest in the VA and

      If you’re asking if I prescribe chronic opioids to people who need them, the answer is yes. Always have and always will. The other side of the coin is providing services to those who do become addicted. Our healthcare system is wholly inadequate in providing these services.

          There are so many barriers here, a few tweets are inadequate. From societal stigmatization to lack of coverage for necessary treatment options.
