I spent the morning in Killeen at a community event for the homeless. Community members and non-profits came out to provide services & support for these folks. As you can read in the attached report, Killeen is #12 in the nation in terms of eviction rates, 1/4pic.twitter.com/lMbwXCyV3A
which further exacerbates the problem.
While I certainly applaud the community for coming together to help, there are cost-effective solutions that we can implement through government initiatives to solve this problem.

are very effective in dramatically reducing homelessness and saving municipalities money. These initiatives provide mental health and social services in addition to housing to help residents get back on their feet and on a path to self-sufficiency. 3/4

When I was there during the summer when the shelter was shutdown I knew immediately what had to happen.
This is about humanity. So working together on a resolution w/ @BradBuckleyDVM and @DrBuckinghamTX should be a priority.
