I’ve been thinking a lot about what to do and I realize that there is only one thing: remove every single person in office who supports this president and his policies. Vote. Them. Out. There is no protest or petition or phone call that is going to change their minds.

Charity, however well meaning, is just a bandaid, and we have no mechanism for providing help to those who have been turned away.

But individuals voting is not enough. You-YOU-are going to have to invest TIME and MONEY into the electoral process. Don’t ask me how you can help these people if you are not willing and ready to hear the answer.

The answer is to start working NOW. Volunteer on a campaign NOW. Donate to candidates NOW. Register voters NOW. Treat politics like an everyday part of your life. But the election is more than a year away! Why start now?

How can any single person on this planet think that what America is doing, is ok? My heart is broken, bleeding and crushed by decisions I’ve made. I am here to bear witness. I am here to admonish this government. I am sorry I have and am failing these people.

What can people in the Midwest do? I’m a single mother (no child support and poverty level, myself) but I’ll be damned if there is not something I can do. Please, let me and others know what we can do. God bless you!

In the short term, you can donate to places that are helping immigrants. But in reality, the only way this gets fixed is through electoral politics: donate, block walk, phone bank for every candidate that shares your values, even if they are not in your district.
