No one likes long threads, but y’all need to know the latest from Laredo. I’m here volunteering at an immigrant clinic and shelter that was set up ad hoc by the local Catholic Church under the auspices of Catholic Charities. They have taken in almost 20,000 people since May.

I am so grateful for the work you do. Can you tell me which catholic charities and which parish so I can send donations?

Me too. What can we do our here in Oregon to help support your efforts? Thank you for being there to support our families.

I’m working thus week with the Diocese of Laredo. The problem right now is that CBP has stopped bringing migrants to their shelter and is taking them to Mexico where there is no system to help them or track them. No one knows where they are so we can no longer provide for them.

do any of the sisters have convents in Mexico where care could be provided?

They’re trying. But there are some issues: many of the parishes are unsafe because of cartel involvement. A priest who was running a shelter for migrants in Mexico has been missing for 3 days, feared kidnapped.
