From her bio: Mary Street Wilson has been a teacher, educator, administrator, and minister. The bulk of her twenty-year teaching career was at Austin Community College where she was a professor of mathematics. She also served as an assistant dean for math and sciences and as an
assistant department chair for the mathematics department. At the beginning of her teaching career she taught both middle school and high school in rural and urban settings. The culmination of these experiences has given Mary a great respect for those who currently strive
to educate all students in all settings, especially the most challenging circumstances. As a pastor of a local church the past seventeen years, Mary has assisted people who are homeless, uninsured, and those in our community who are most in need.
Although there are numerous non-profit agencies whose goals are to assist people, staffed primarily with volunteers, more is needed. Healthcare for all is necessary. Student loans for college and/or trade schools must be alleviated.
Housing for those who find themselves on the streets is sorely needed. In other words, Mary cares about those who are the most in need in our society, those who fall through the cracks, and those who struggle to find their way.
Dr. Mann is committed to our community and representing those who need our government to work for us. Mary is proud to say, “Dr. Mann has my support!”
