Yes. Because the GOP was trying to let insurers stop covering it for people on their plan. Needs to be both. Insurance coverage for those with it, cheap, accessible OTC for those without.

There is nothing elite about it. You want your insurance to cover it if its prescribed by a doctor but you want it to be OTC as well. I've never once in life had a dr. prescribe an otc drug. Doesn't that defeat the purpose?

Not at all, if the purpose is broad, expanded access. I want insurance to cover it for everyone who has insurance, and I want it to be cheap and easily accessible for those without insurance.

You want your insurance to pay for an OTC drug. That would be fantastic. I want my insurance company to pay for my aleve.

So if I get a prescription my insurance will pay for it but if i buy it OTC it's on me. We won't get into why that drug is prescribed instead of OTC.

Yes, for some insurances, but not for all. If I'm recommending an OTC med, l'll write a prescription & let the patient know that it MAY be covered. If it's not, can talk to the pharmacist about less expensive alternatives. Not the best use of time, but that's our current system
