Exactly. I’m not sure why so many people are having difficulty with this.

There is alarming ignorance in the general population about basic statistics, and that's manipulated by some who want to seed opinions. At least that's the case here in Australia and I surmise is the case elsewhere too.

Imagine if you didn't have to GOTV. Imagine a system where, instead, you could focus on debating the substantive policy issues. We don't get everything right in this country, but this is one area we do well: https://www.aec.gov.au/Voting/Compulsory_Voting.htm …

Polls are not meant to gauge public opinion...they are designed to sway public sentiment. The MSM tried to convince us HRC would win with polls. Pollsters and weathermen...only professions you can be wrong 50% of the time and still collect 100% of your paycheck.

Yeah...you might want to study up on that. The Electoral College votes decide the winner, not the popular vote.

No one disputes that. But if one is arguing that the polls were “wrong” in 2016, one would be, well, wrong. The polls were right. Talking heads and others who said that Hillary would definitely win were wrong, because people don’t understand odds and statistics.

This poll is wrong.https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2016-election-forecast/ …

That’s not a poll. It’s an aggregate prediction model giving a statistical probability. This is exactly what I mean when I say people don’t understand polls and statistics. It’s not a poll.
