I think it's about not amplifying his message of fear just before the midterms. Making more people think that a) migrants are actually a problem and b) Trump has solutions for it. And then voting GOP (fearful ppl tend to vote conservative).

I'm not sure what a good solution is though. Maybe if MSM fact checked what the President said instead of still assuming he and the GOP are operating in normal good faith?
