Most pathetic is the troll who insults me for not having "enough money" to pay a big staff. I raised about $250K which should be MORE THAN ENOUGH for a senate primary. The fact that Sen. Smith has spent well over $3 million is yet another example of how our system is corrupt.

wow. that is awful. Running for office should not be about how much $$ is raised. That is the evil of Citizens United.

It’s almost entirely about how much money you raise. Candidates are not considered “viable” unless they aggressively raise money. Groups like EMILY’s list and 314 won’t endorse you if you don’t meet their benchmarks of fundraising. 1/2

Media won’t cover you if you don’t raise big sums. It’s virtually all the media cares about when they write about candidates. The major news stories only include candidates who raise large sums. It’s one of the worst lessons I learned when I was running. 2/2
