We do have a truly government run medical system in the US: the VA system. There, everyone-doctors, techs, nurses, are employed by the government. The British system is like this. I am not in favor of that type of system.

All would have to be written into the law so that future congresses would not be able to stop the transition. Obviously this would require a Congress that is heavily composed of Democrats.

Ahhhh I see. In order to do this we need an expedited Dem Congress to pass it. As for the medicaid part I don't know how we prevent GOP obstruction because they seem to always find a way.

Why do you necessarily think there would be job losses? Big insurance companies administer Medicare plans across the country. Is there any reason to think that the Medicare Administration wouldn't or couldn't do the same, just with more members?

The job losses would come from reducing administrative positions. Just as an example, in my small office, we would need 1-3 fewer people. Multiply that by 10’s of thousands of healthcare entities. Most SP advocates recognize this and have various plans to mitigate...
