Oh dear, I think when we know better we do better. My Son is 26....so I circumcised. Now? No.

it is not child abuse nor misandry to do a circumcision. I don't care what the "intactitve" movement wants to couch it as. I would still make the same choice today as I am Jewish.
-
Dr. London I understand you have to snap people out of their tendency to follow the male narrative when discussing women/girls issues, so throwing circumcision/MGM into an FGM discussion gets pushback even though it’s the same issue (legally as well). ..
-
MGM is woven nicely into the cultural fabric and we don’t recognize it for what it is; the same thing we’re trying to get those who practice FGM to see. There’s no need/reason to proactively cut into a baby’s genitals. It’s a maladaptive practice.

"Men who resent being circumcised." http://www.circumstitions.com/Resent.html

men find many reasons to be resentful. I get it. I did not come on to twitter to discuss it. I started a thread about WOMEN and CHILDBIRTH and sexual difficulties. I am NOT an expert on men and their penises.

You've studied the ethics of medicine, right? http://journalofethics.ama-assn.org/2017/08/msoc2-1708.html … Being a physician I assume you know that circumcision has no medical value. So why did you subject your infant children to unnecessary surgery without their consent? Isn't there some kinda oath about this?
-
2204 articles disagree with you https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/?term=benefits+of+male+circumcision …
-
You know that a number of search results doesn't prove anything right? That many of those probably contend the benefits are NOT real? That you have to evaluate any potential benefit against harm done, but most importantly, that "benefits" don't excuse you from ethics.
-
Ignoring data
#Mansplaining at its best -
You didn't cite data. You typed "benefits of male circumcision" into a search bar and quoted the number of results you got. That's a pathetic form of "research" for an MD. You wanna play that way though? "male circumcision risk" has >5000 hits. I win. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/?term=male+circumcision+risk …
-
ok. I never asked for this debate. I am sorry you feel damaged. My sons do not, nor my brothers, father, uncles etc. Take your damage elsewhere.
-
How about you grow a spine and listen when other people start calling out your nonsense? Especially when you're talking about something so serious as circumcision.
-
My spine is fine. I have said MY opinion. You have yours. There ARE medical advantages to male circumcision. That does not make it medically necessary. I am done with the debate. Have your activism elsewhere - stop invading threads about WOMEN.

I think that circumcision is a necessity!!
-
I understand that it is not a medical 'necessity' but it does confer medical 'benefits'. Those that wish to compare it to FGM IMO are misguided. I absolutely think anti-semitism is a large part of this movement. Regardless, coming on to my TL, on a thread regarding women wrong
-
FGM is not a medical necessity but it does confer medical benefits. I absolutely think racism and islamophobia is a large part of this movement.
-
show me the studies on that one. Please. Where as phimosis is a real condition and balantitis, What preytell could FGM prevent????
-
I must be ignorant can someone tell me what FGM is?
-
female genital mutilation
-
I actually have a friend that got balanititis and ended up having to be circumcised anyway when he was like 12 I believe.
-
I have seen many cases of balanitis and phimosis.
