I thought children were spared. How old is the youngest ever infected?
There have been neonates reported to be infected. In a study I will be releasing on #covid_19 within in the next day includes a patient as young as 3 months. But I highlight infected does not me symptomatic.
Is this just detecting RNA or do people know if there is also infectious virus? The RNA from viruses can stick around for a really long time without there necessarily being infectious particles.
They only tested RNA. The length of shedding though at such a high frequency raises the strong possibility of the gastrointestinal tract being another site of viral replication. However, this was just a single case series. More investigation is required.
Is there a way to find out if you’ve already had it? For everyone who has had potential symptoms this winter but gotten better?
Eventually we should have an antibody test (serology) we can do on blood for this purpose, but not available in US yet
@DrBrandon55 , can you please share the link of this study? Thank you :)
